The 81-year-old woman seriously injured yesterday during a shooting on Prenestina, on the outskirts of Rome, did not make it. She died this morning at the Policlinico Umberto I, where she had been hospitalized in critical condition due to a gunshot that hit her in the back. At the scene of the shooting, the Forensic Police found 5 shell casings.

One stopped

In the last few hours a 28-year-old was arrested. The policemen of the Rome flying squad, coordinated by the magistrates of the District Anti-Mafia Directorate, have in fact stopped a boy suspected of having fired several shots, one of which hit the old woman. After the shooting he apparently drove away in a red Fiat 500.

What happened

The shooting occurred yesterday in broad daylight, at the intersection of via Prenestina and via della Riserva Nuova. According to one of the hypotheses being examined by investigators, the woman may have been shot in the back by mistake while she was in the car with a friend who remained unharmed. From a very first reconstruction, it seems that two cars were chasing each other when the shot was fired from one of the vehicles which seriously injured the victim. The investigations of the police flying squad coordinated by the capital’s DDA are focusing on a possible clash between Sinti groups.
