Elon Musk mourns the death of Kabosu, Dogecoin’s Shiba Inu

Elon MuskCEO of Tesla Inc.expressed his grief Friday over the death of Kabosu, the dog Shiba Inu which inspired the creation of Dogecoin (CRYPTO:DOGE).

What happened

Musk responded to a post by DogeDesigner on Kabosu’s death, saying, “Rest in peace.”

Kabosu, who became the face of Dogecoin and other canine-themed cryptocurrencies, has died at the age of 19. The news was announced by an account dedicated to the legendary dog, which stated that Kabosu passed away early in the morning, Japanese time.

The owner revealed that the funeral will be held on May 26 at Flower Kaori in Kotsu no Mori, Narita City.

Kabosu’s death has cast a pall over the usually bustling cryptocurrency industry, with many prominent figures expressing their condolences. Also the co-founder of Ethereum Vitalik Buterin he mourned the loss, writing “Rest in peace Kabochan”.

The Dogecoin Foundation paid tribute, saying: “Rest in peace, dear Kabosu, beloved Doge. You were very wow indeed.”

Throughout his life, Kabosu made many friends, including celebrities and renowned investors. Musk, in particular, has often cited Kabosu, who acted as a mascot for Dogecoin. This event sparked a wave of similar canine-themed cryptocurrencies, such as Shiba Inu, Dogelon Mars, and Floki, inspired by Musk’s Shiba Inu “Floki.”

Meanwhile, the popular meme coins Dogecoin, Shiba Inu (CRYPTO:SHIB) e Floki (CRYPTO:FLOKI) suffered a setback after the death of the dog who inspired them. All three cryptocurrencies fell between 5% and 7% in the last 24 hours following Kabosu’s demise.
