In Friuli Venezia Giulia there are some very particular places: these are ghost city which could be interesting to visit, especially for those who love curiosities and unusual things.

These countries are found inland, sometimes in inaccessible areasand have been abandoned over time for various reasons.

The abandoned villages are a historical testimony and represent a past time, also offering solitary and silent spaces and a surreal atmosphere. Here you are which are the abandoned villages of Friuli Venezia Giulia.

Pozzis, in the province of Udine

It can be reached via a path that starts on the provincial road that starts from Tolmezzo. The country is depopulated between the 1960s and 1980s due to migratory phenomena which led the inhabitants to move elsewhere in search of work.

Riulade, a hamlet of the municipality of Moggio Udinese

It is located in the province of Udine and can be reached via the state road that starts from Pradis di Sotto.

The town, still covered in rubble, was abandoned following the strong earthquake of 1976;

Pàlcoda, a hamlet in the municipality of Tramonti di Sopra

In the province of Pordenone, you can get there via impervious mountain roads along the CAI path number 831a.

It is located in the Carnic Prealps, the village was abandoned at the beginning of the twentieth century and during the Second World War its buildings offered refuge to the partisans.

You can see some houses and the Church of San Giacomo, renovated in 2011.

Tamar, in the province of Pordenone

It is located near Pàlcoda and can be reached via a mountain path. This village appears to have been inhabited since the 17th century and it too was left by the inhabitants after the 1976 earthquake.

You can get there by taking the regional road 251 which runs alongside the Vajont stream. It was right there Vajont dam tragedy of 1963which razed several towns to the ground and caused many victims, leading to the abandonment of the town, whose terrain had become unstable.
