car fire in via Governolo, third case in the same street

An arson act shook the community of San Severo, where a Fiat Panda was set on fire in via Governolo. The accident occurred during the night, requiring the intervention of the firefighters to put out the fire and make the area safe.

According to residents, this is the third similar incident to have occurred on the same street, which is not particularly long. This time, the burned car belonged to a local dealer. The event sparked a reaction from politician Dino Marino, who expressed his outrage on social media: “I am awake in the middle of the night due to a cowardly act of arson committed outside my house. This cowardly method not only persists, but is fueled by repeated criminal acts. It is the third time that a car has been burned in via Governolo, a short street with only a building and two condominiums, in a side street of viale dei Cappuccini”.

“This time it was the turn of a well-known businessman from San Severo to join the club of people whose cars were set on fire, as happened to me. In fact, I relived the scene of a car set on fire outside the house, waking up only after the tires burst due to the fire. There is a safety problem that has never been addressed in San Severo. After they burned my car, I installed cameras which they then stole too,” Marino said.

“The perception of insecurity in this city is high at all levels and the next administration must move from words to deeds. The presence of an anti-crime department has not increased security, but only patrolling in front of the sports field, while criminals avoid that area. Furthermore, I don’t understand why this administration has never asked, not even when Minniti was minister, to establish a ‘class A’ police station like in Cerignola, to double the agents and intensify investigative work”, he continued.

“Finally, there is no adequate level of surveillance, despite technological advances in this field, from the use of drones to satellite-linked platforms that can monitor every corner of the city. In our electoral program there is a point dedicated to this, but I believe we should make a specific initiative on these issues, because the liveability of a city depends first and foremost on its safety”, he concluded.
