Sardinia, handles his father’s weapons at home: 14-year-old dies in Villasalto

A 14-year-old boy died after being shot while he was handling his father’s weapons at home in Villasalto, southern Sardinia.

Doctors arrived on site immediately and the air ambulance was also mobilised, but once they arrived on site they had to realize that there was nothing more that could be done. The boy was already dead. Meanwhile, the police are working to reconstruct the dynamics of the accident which proved fatal for the boy.

The shot would have been fired by mistake

The boy was handling the rifle and other weapons that his father kept in the house when, around 4pm, the shot went off which hit the 14-year-old boy who died in Villasalto, in southern Sardinia, in the face. The Carabinieri of the San Vito company will be in charge of the investigations and will be supported by specialists from the operational department of the provincial command of Cagliari to reconstruct the details of what happened. The teams will now carry out investigations in the house and will interview the victim’s relatives to understand what happened in the house. Above all, we are trying to ascertain why the 14-year-old started handling his father’s rifle and other weapons. At the moment the investigations are going in the direction of the accident: the most supported hypothesis, in fact, according to the first reconstructions, is that of the shot being fired by mistake.
