An implacable one Tadej Pogacar also wins the 16th stage of the Giro d’Italia, the Lasa-Santa Cristina Valgardena of 118.4 km with route and departure modified due to bad weather. The Slovenian phenomenon wins his fifth stage in this Corsa Rosa totally dominated so far thanks to a deadly lunge on the last climb of the day: an excellent 0.15″ ahead of the finish line Giulio Pellizzari of Bardiani, who won the sprint for second place ahead of the Colombian Dani Martinez of Bora Hansgrohe. Fourth place for Christian Scaroni of Astana at 0.18″ and fifth Antonio Tiberi of Bahrain-Victorious at 0.20″.
The general ranking
In the general classification Pogacar now precedes Martinez by 7’18”.the Welshman by a good 7’40”. Geraint Thomas of Ineos also today behind and 8’42” Ben ‘O Connor of the Decathlon AG2R. The 17th stage from Selva di Val Gardena to the 159.0 km Passo Brocon is scheduled for Wednesday, with still more climbs to climb.
