A real tragedy. This is the most frequent comment among those who knew him Samuele Fuschi, a 38-year-old Palermo native from Falsomiele who lost his life this afternoon in Viale Regione Siciliana. Anger, pain and frustration. He leaves behind a family with four children. On the spot the air he blows is heavy. Many family members and acquaintances immediately gathered on site. Ten state police cars, four municipal police patrols and the 118 emergency vehicles were monitoring the situation, arriving immediately at the scene of the accident but, faced with what happened, were only able to confirm the death.
The tragedy in Viale Regione Siciliana
From the first reconstructions, the man aboard his engine, a white Sh, would have hit a pothole in the right lane of the motorway junction. The impact was fatal. The body is currently covered by a cloth, awaiting the arrival of the medical examiner. At the same point, in 1989, Gaspare Polizzi, a young man of 19, died in another accident.
The anger of family members
There were those on site who knew Samuele Fuschi well. Like his father-in-law Salvatore Santoro, present at the scene of the accident. “Maybe he was going to visit my daughter who works in Giafar Street. This hole had already opened three days ago. It was smaller but it was there. Today it will have widened a little more. My son-in-law stopped by. He must have tried to avoid it in some way and lost his life.” Then the tears. “He left behind a wife and four children, one of whom is very young. This is a huge tragedy that could have been avoided.”
The eldest of Samuele Fuschi’s four children, the eighteen-year-old, was also on site Alexei. “My father was a worker. He did everything he could for his family. He was proud of his children. An exceptional man.” Now is not the time to think about the future, but only about the present. “Now we will take our father and give him a proper burial. It’s time for pain. But it is clear that we ask for justice.”
