DAZN encourages piracy with new prices, look at that stuff

Bad news for subscribers DAZN: the company has started sending emails where it announces a price increase of annual subscriptions, especially DAZN Plus, which allows simultaneous viewing on two devices, even if in different places.

The increases follow the increases already introduced in January, which had caused a lot of discontent among season ticket holders. Now, starting next August, season ticket holders DAZN Plus they will have to pay €599 euros per year: it’s about 150 euros more than in 2023, where the one-off subscription cost €449. The January increase had raised the price to €539.

for those who subscribe to DAZN Plus with monthly fee, the cost goes from €49.99 per month to €59.99 per month, for a total of €700 per year. Those who fare worse, however, are the Android users who subscribe via the Google Play Store: for them the subscription goes up to €69.99 per month, while DAZN Standard costs €49.99 per month.

Needless to say Behavior like this only encourages piracy. Even those eager to pay might find it difficult to justify such an increase, especially considering the poor quality of service, which often makes the news due to problems during the most important and followed matches and sporting events. It must also be said, however, that if everyone paid subscriptions and no one relied on illegal services, prices would not increase. Or at least not that much.

DAZN justifies the increases with the introduction of full coverage of international volleyball competitions into the service and the exclusive broadcast of 700 hours of the Paris 2024 Olympics, via six new Eurosport channels. However, these innovations are unlikely to satisfy users, who could cancel their subscription due to a cost that has now become unjustifiable.
