The first information meeting on diabetes for the members of Ade – il Gazzettino di Gela took place

The first of a series of meetings between the members of the Eschilo Diabetes Association and the specialists who make their professionalism available to the association was held last Tuesday, May 7, at the Casa del Volontariato in Gela.

They were the pediatricians Dr. Anna Armenio and Dr. Cristoforo Cocchiara to hold the first conference-debate in front of a large audience of participants, who actively participated, making the meeting interesting and lively.

The topics covered were different, from the introduction of screening with law 130 of 15 September 2023 for diabetes and celiac disease, to immediate recognition method of the first signs of diabetes, to the procedures to intervene promptly and avoid short and long-term complications, to need to maintain healthy eating habits and correct lifestyles.

From the debate emerged the need for the activation of a pediatric diabetes service in the Gela area and a reflection on the worrying situation of the national health system, which sees an impoverishment of structures and personnel and which could be worsened by the proposal to implement the differentiated autonomy.

Next appointment Tuesday 16 May with Dr. Morselli, psychotherapist, in the premises of the ADE headquarters in Via ossidiana n. 27 c/o the Volunteer House.
