Spa – Race 2 Bonduel wins almost by default

New triumph for Amaury Bonduel in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe. Just like yesterday, the Belgian climbed to the top step of the podium at Spa-Francorchamps. Not only that, the representative of the BDR team took home the third success of the season out of four races held so far. In addition to being conditioned by two safety cars, the second heat was interrupted after only seventeen minutes, due to a red flag, and was never resumed.

Already on the formation lap Oliver Freymuth was forced to abandon the race due to a mechanical problem on his Huracan. Starting from pole, Bonduel immediately tried to take the lead followed by Hampus Eriksson, who did well to overtake Jean-Baptiste Mela. The Frenchman then lost his composure and slipped to fourth behind Egor Orudzhev.

Meanwhile, in the rear, Holger Harmsen missed the braking of La Source, hitting the innocent Stefano Pezzuchi. The Pole was the one who got the worst of it and, having remained stationary on the track, forced the first intervention of the safety car. Hostilities resumed with forty minutes remaining in the match. Bonduel once again took off to set the fastest lap, taking advantage of the brawl between Eriksson and Mela.

The key moment occurred on the sixth lap when Charlie Martin hit Alessio Ruffini on the straight leading to Eau Rouge. The Italian from Auto Sport Racing Service had no choice but to park the Lamborghini on the grass. The removal first forced the second intervention of the safety car and, shortly afterwards, the entry of a tow truck with a red flag attached. At the same time, driver changes began with the classification being revolutionized.

Given the continuation of the operations, it was decided to end the race early with the final classification frozen on the sixth lap. The overall podium thus saw the winner Bonduel finish ahead of Eriksson and Orudzhev. First hit in ProAm for Andrea Frassineti, paired with Ignazio Zanon, who did well to keep up with the leaders. Mattia Michelotto and Gilles Stadsbader finished on the fringes of the top 10. After reaching the podium in race 1, Stephan Guerin managed to take the victory in Am. Twenty-first overall, Petar Matic and Paolo Biglieri won the Lamborghini Cup.
