We receive and gladly publish the statement with which the residents of Villanova di Denore express disappointment and regret for the outcome of the meeting organized by the Mayor in office and mayoral candidate Alan Fabbri in Villanova on the evening of Wednesday 8 May.
“The meeting organized by the Mayor in office and mayoral candidate Alan Fabbri in Villanova on the evening of Wednesday 8 May has left a legacy of great bitterness and opposition in the residents, who for years have opposed the construction of the mega-plant for the production of biomethane.
The invitation to a meeting with the citizens could suggest the possibility of the whole community being involved, of being informed and updated on how the project is evolving and above all the expectation that the most pressing problems of the project were at least outlined and shared was legitimate. daily living in this area, the choices made so far and the hypotheses for future interventions.
Mayor Fabbri’s legitimate choice to communicate through a short electoral rally took away from us any equally legitimate expectation of discussion.
As has been the case for some time the Mayor, with his council, almost entirely present at the rally, made the choice to deny the citizens, who are asking for a discussion that he himself promised; he made the choice to oppose himself once again by labeling us as politically opposing parties who continue to legitimately ask what protections he has put in place to safeguard the health and safety of the inhabitants of this territory; it made us feel like strangers in our own home.
It has been of no avail in these now two and a half years to have demonstrated that our requests were addressed to all the bodies, institutions and agencies involved in the authorization of the biomethane plant, that we have asked everyone to account for the aspects and steps that we still believe there is a need for further investigation regarding an intervention that will irreversibly change our territory and of which we do not know sufficiently the repercussions.
The Mayor has chosen not to be on the side of the people who live here, who have invested their best energies here, who have decided to have children here or try to live peacefully in their homes but he deemed it unnecessary to inform and attribute to others any responsibility.
The preventive involvement of all residents in this type of intervention is an obligation established by laws, from European laws to regional regulations. No one asked the company that presented the project, and the current owner Vornbioenergy Italia, which was awarded a loan of 13 million euros deriving from the PNRR, to fulfill these obligations. Territories of conquest and may the strongest win!
We know the complexity of the laws that regulate energy interventions, we know the strength of the companies that decide to set up these activities financed with public funds and with very little economic impact on the territories but what expectation is more legitimate than that of feeling protected by the Administration that has the task of governing our city and what we now emphatically call the Hamlets?
We also asked the other Mayoral candidates to come and discuss and learn about our reality.

No one asked the candidate to solve problems overnight or make easy pre-election promises, but for us being able to formalize the most pressing and sometimes little-shared needs was a glimpse of the possibility of being able to be heard as a community, to go beyond the solution of small individual or contingent problems, to glimpse more important and quality changes.”
