He promised that he would leave everything to his employees and so he did. Piero Pittaro, a Friulian entrepreneur who passed away at the age of 89 on March 24, decided to leave the majority of his winery, founded in the early 1970s, to his 9 trusted collaborators. The story is told today by Messaggero Veneto and Il Piccolo.

The historic winemaker and lifelong right-hand man, the agricultural expert, the accountant, the sales assistant, the cellar and vineyard men will now take care of the company. A real donation which, upon opening the will, surprised those interested, all people from the Codroipo area (Udine), who have worked at Vigneti Pittaro for over 10 years. They will soon form a new company. The watchword is continuity and enhancement of the brand, which remains Friulian, with 85 hectares of vineyards between ownership and rent in the Grave del Friuli, 300 thousand bottles sold every year, 100 thousand of which are sparkling wines and another 200 thousand of still white and red wines , with an export share of 35, 40% and privileged destinations are the United States, Singapore and the EU.

“When we did some checks in the vineyards or tests in the cellar he told us, every now and then in the Friulian language, ‘Us lassi dut a vualtris’ (‘I leave everything to you’), but frankly we thought Piero was joking – Stefano Trinco tells the newspapers, the group’s winemaker who is also president of Doc Friuli – there is great emotion on our part, as well as a dutiful thank you. And certainly the commitment and awareness of personally carrying forward the company”. Starting with the launch of what had been one of the patriarch Piero’s last ideas: the creation of a Blanc de Noir sparkling wine, naturally made with the classic method, which is the company’s signature, from exclusively Pinot Noir grapes.
