The trial for the death of Diego Armando Maradona, whose start was set for June 4th, risks being postponed. And this is why Gisela Madridone of the people accused of voluntary homicide with possible intent (punishment ranging from 8 to 25 years in prison), requested and obtained from the Appeals Chamber to be judged by a popular jury.
And according to the Appeals Chamber, other suspects could make the same request, four of whom have already given up this possibility. For the magistrates investigating Diego’s death – Cosme Iribarren, Patricio Ferrari and Laura Capra – “a limbo has been created which is not clear how it can be resolved”.
