In Slovenia, from today 21 May 2024 until Monday 3 June 2024, the retail prices of petrol, diesel and heating oil will undergo a significant reduction. Excise duties will remain unchanged, thus providing significant economic relief for Slovenian consumers.

New maximum prices for fuel

For the next 14 day period, the maximum prices allowed will be:

Unleaded petrol (NMB 95): 1.495 euros per litre, reduced compared to the previous 1.541 euros per litre.

Diesel fuel: 1.462 euros per litre, down from 1.484 euros per litre.

Heating oil: 1.103 euros per litre, lowered from the previous 1.127 euros per litre.

Unleaded petrol (NMB 95)

The price of unleaded petrol, with excise duty unchanged set at 0.45824 euros per litre, will be 1.495 euros per litre. This represents a significant reduction compared to the previous price of 1,541 euros per litre. For example, for a full 50 liter tank, the cost will be 74.75 euros, compared to the previous 77.05 euros.

If there were no price regulation, considering all taxes and contributions, the estimated price would be around 1,556 euros per litre.

Diesel fuel

Diesel, with unchanged excise duty of 0.42538 euros per litre, will cost 1.462 euros per liter at distributors located off motorways, compared to the previous 1.484 euros per litre. For a full 50 liter tank, the cost will be 73.10 euros, while previously it was 74.20 euros.

Without price regulation and without exemption from the contribution for renewable energy sources and cogeneration, the estimated price would be around 1.537 euros per litre.

Heating oil

Heating oil, with an unchanged excise duty of 0.15085 euros per litre, will cost 1.103 euros per liter in the new period, compared to the previous 1.127 euros per litre. For an order of 1,000 litres, the total cost will be 1,103 euros, compared to the previous 1,127 euros, with a saving of 24 euros.

If there were no price regulation, the estimated cost, including all taxes and contributions, would be around 1,201 euros per litre. Therefore, the saving per 1,000 liters would be 98 euros.

Regulation of profit margins

According to government regulation, profit margins for off-highway distributors are limited. These can be a maximum of 0.0783 euros per liter of diesel, 0.0794 euros per liter of unleaded petrol (NMB 95), and 0.08 euros per liter of heating oil.

Free prices on motorways

It is important to note that fuel prices in motorway areas are set freely. The categorization of roads as motorways or expressways is determined by the Decree on the Categorization of National Roads.

Price calculation methodology

The prices of oil derivatives continue to be calculated on the basis of a methodology that takes into account the movement of prices on the world market (PLATT’S European Marketscan) and the US dollar-euro exchange rate. Model prices are calculated based on 14-day averages of oil derivatives prices. These derivatives include 95 octane unleaded gasoline, additive-free diesel fuel and fuel oil.

Impact on families and the economy

This price reduction will have a positive impact on Slovenian families, reducing the costs of refueling vehicles and home heating. The lowering of fuel prices could stimulate domestic demand, encouraging a recovery in consumption and supporting the local economy.

The reduction in prices of petrol, diesel and heating oil in Slovenia represents an important economic advantage for consumers, guaranteeing significant savings. Thanks to price regulation and calculation methodology based on international markets, Slovenian citizens can benefit from more affordable prices and contribute to the country’s economic stability.
