The former Montpellier, Arsenal and Chelsea player has already signed a contract valid until December 2025 with Los Angeles FC, the same franchise where he will find his compatriot Hugo Lloris. The France coach gave an interview to AFPconfirming the imminent Giroud’s move to Los Angeles. However, he clarified that this decision will not affect his selection for EURO 2024.
Didier Deschamps’ words on Olivier Giroud’s future:
“Olivier made a sporting choice and a life choice. Despite his age and his experience, he still has this passion within him. Perhaps it is also an opportunity, in addition to the return of Hugo Lloris and his family. He wants to continue his career, but with slightly different goals than in Europe. However, this will not influence my immediate decisions, as he will remain at Milan until the end of the season. Olivier has impressive experience and background, but is subjected to competition like everyone else. This transfer will not affect my evaluation of him, either positively or negatively.”
