A Carabinieri operation in Caivano led to the seizure of almost a ton of counterfeit olive oil. The protagonist of this story is a young 27-year-old woman, originally from Afragola and already known to the police for previous illicit activities. The 27-year-old was stopped while driving a small van, and during the check the Carabinieri discovered an impressive quantity of counterfeit olive oil inside the vehicle, equal to approximately 900 litres, contained in green tin containers. But that’s not all: in the middle of the load, a block of hundreds of falsified labels was also found, ready to be applied to the products. These labels were attributable to a well-known oil brand, which indicates a sophisticated counterfeiting operation.
The seized oil will be subjected to chemical analysis to confirm its authenticity and ensure food safety for consumers. Meanwhile, the 27-year-old has been reported for selling non-genuine food substances, a very serious crime that puts the health of consumers at risk and damages the image of legitimate companies.
