Turin, 29 April. (askanews) – Resilient infrastructures that transport methane today and in the future so-called green gases such as bio methane. To accelerate the decarbonisation process it is necessary to make investments that start from the assumption of a pragmatic approach. Only in this way, without prejudicially banning any technology, can the 2030 and 2050 objectives be achieved. The CEO of Italgas, Paolo Gallo, discussed it at the group’s headquarters in Turin with the Minister of the Environment and Energy Security, Gilberto Pichetto Fratin, president of the G7 Energy which opens today in Venaria. A day of discussion entitled ‘Bridging tradition and sustainable energy’ with the participation of the Azerbaijani Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources, Mukhtar Babayev, president of the next Cop29 in Baku in November, an appointment to which this G7 will yield in a certain way the relay. “At a global level there are many difficulties but they are difficulties that apply to everyone. Certainly at a time when there are still wars that affect the choices of various countries it is also right to be concerned but this does not mean that we must lower our guard. However, we must set the objectives with maximum determination. Italy naturally does so with a reasoning that concerns compatibility with our country condition. So the final objective is certain, but the scale needs to be taken a step further at a time.” Convergence on the topic of infrastructure on the part of both Babayev and Minister Pichetto Fratin, CEO Gallo underlined: “Building resilient infrastructures that can transport methane today and other types of gas tomorrow. The minister spoke about hydrogen, emethane , of renewable gases which require resilient, capable and upgraded infrastructures to be transported”. The CEO then does not share the skepticism regarding the achievement of the decarbonisation objectives that many countries within the G7, including Italy, have set themselves. “I believe that in recent years many steps forward have been made towards these objectives. The reason why perhaps we could have made more is because until a few years ago the approach was strictly ideological and in my opinion this limited the ability to explore alternative paths to reach the objectives sooner and more quickly. I believe that the important change of pace is that abandoning the ideological approach and adopting pragmatism based on what is best done will accelerate the achievement of the objectives the criticisms that have been made”, concluded Gallo.
