The Last of Us: What awaits us in season 2

The preview doesn’t reveal much, except that time and the dangers of a world destroyed and transformed by the Cordyceps epidemic have made Joel and Ellie a little older and tired. You can’t make out who Joel is confronting, as well as what Ellie is looking at while she holds the rifle.

The Last of Us, a worldwide hit based on the video game of the same name developed by Naughty Dog for PlayStation consoles, takes place 20 years after modern civilization has been destroyed by a parasitic fungus that has infected humans, mutating them into monstrous creatures. Joel, a survivor, is hired to smuggle Ellie, a 14-year-old girl immune to the infection, out of an oppressive quarantine zone. What seemed like a small assignment soon becomes a brutal and harrowing journey, as both must cross an unrecognizable America and depend on each other to survive.

The second season, expected on TV for the first half of 2025, in Italy exclusively on Sky and streaming only on NOW, will also bring back to the screens Gabriel Luna And Rutina Wesley, as Tommy and Maria, Joel’s brother and sister-in-law. Instead, they will make their debut Kaitlyn Dever (Dopesick) as Abby, Isabela Merced (Dora and the Lost City) of Dina, Young Mazino (The Clash) of Jesse, Ariela Barer (Runaways) by Mel, Tati Gabrielle (YOU) of Nora, Spencer Lord (Riverdale) by Owen and Danny Ramirez (The Falcon and the Winter Soldier) by Manny. We also know that the Emmy winner Catherine O’Hara (Schitt’s Creek) will play a guest star role.
