Germany, the spy story spreads like wildfire

After the arrest of his assistant Jian Guo for the alleged espionage on the European Parliament and the German government on behalf of Beijing, the AfD leader in the European elections, Maximilian Krah, said he was “surprised” and had announced the dismissal of the collaborator. Moves that the representative of the German far right hoped would be enough to close the case, removing any suspicion from him, but evidently things did not go as hoped because the Dresden Prosecutor’s Office announced the opening of a preliminary investigation in his charged for alleged corruption with Russian and Chinese funds.

Basically, the magistrates targeted some “alleged Russian” and “Chinese” payments that the politician allegedly received “for his activity as a deputy”. At the moment, the German investigators have not provided any other information, but have explicitly ruled out that the investigation concerning Krah is linked to the one for which his former assistant, Guo, is accused.

Germany, the spy story spreads like wildfire

According to what transpires, the alleged payments from Russia emerged as part of a Kremlin network, dismantled in the Czech Republic a few weeks ago, where politicians from six EU states received bribes, presumably to revive pro-Putin propaganda . The case of the alleged bribes and plane tickets paid by China in exchange for Krah’s favors is different.

The AfD politician has always denied everything, publicly denying that the Chinese authorities paid him plane tickets to Beijing. It’s a shame that he himself, some time ago and on several occasions, declared the opposite to the European Parliament.
