Manila Esposito is towering at the European Championships 2024 of artistic gymnastics. The 17 year old from Campania conquered two gold medals in today’s specialty finalsimposing herself on beam and floor exercise in front of the public at the Rimini Fair, after that Thursday night he had broken the bank in the all-around. Three titles in the same continental event had never been won by an Italian in the past: a record that clarifies the scope of the feat achieved by the policewoman in Romagna.
Manila Esposito expressed her satisfaction through federal channels: “I didn’t expect at all to be able to get three medals, especially gold. I gave my all in all the races and still managed to get on the podium. When I manage to perform the exercises as I want I gain a little more confidence, more and more each time, so these medals will help me gain even more confidence in myself. I’m very happy because this means that I’m working well and I’ve managed to improve even more, so I hope to continue like this.”
The Italian then continued: “What was more than Antalya on beam? A little more experience, it wasn’t my first final so I tried to manage my emotions better. In floor exercise, however, I won gold like Vanessa Ferrari, a comparison that is a bit scary, trying to follow in her footsteps is an emotion, for me she is an idol. The choreography and music was chosen by Rodica Demetrescu. It was the last tool today, I tried to gather all my strength to give my best.”
In conclusion, a dedication, which is always addressed to the family as he had already done after winning the title in the individual general competition a couple of days ago: “Who do I dedicate these other medals to? Always to my family and my grandparents, Maria and Alfonso and Grazia and Raffaele. I think my coach Camilla Ugolini couldn’t be happier.”
Angela Andreoli also achieved bronze in the floor exercise: “What does a bronze taste like at home? It’s a very strong emotion, because it’s my second European free body bronze, so I’m really happy. At home we felt much more, there was a lot of warmth from the public, and this helped us, but also everyone else, so I’m very happy. Manila Esposito is fantastic, I have always said it and will continue to say it, even as a person she has always helped and supported me in everything, even in the gym, so she is a fantastic person and deserves all this. Tomorrow is the team final, we will be a united team, so let’s hope everything goes smoothly, as we know how to do, and we aim high. What if on the eve we imagined winning all these medals? Personally, no, that was the idea, we came here for this, so we did it, it’s better this way.”
