“I hope that these words of clarification can put an end to the controversies that, despite myself, arose following the failure to hold the meeting of the Council Commission of investigation and study on the flood emergency on Tuesday 23 April. We had all – not just myself – considered it useful that the session could be held to listen, in a hearing, to interventions by leaders of the Emilia-Romagna Region, the Province of Forlì Cesena and the Forlì Municipality, in order to have clear and exhaustive what commitments will be made in the immediate future» is the comment of Lauro Biondi president of the council commission of investigation and study on the flood emergency.
«I would like to point out that the causes of the failure to hold the meeting are not to be attributed to political reasons but only to misunderstandings due to the commitments of each of the councilors involved who were unable to be present. I would also like to underline that the same session which unfortunately did not take place did not lead (and will not lead to) any negative repercussions on the flood affair and for the citizens affected by it. This is because the Commission has already worked, within its competence, both in terms of analysis and investigation to have a definitive and truthful picture of the situation and has contributed to ensuring that everything that could be done was in some way implemented by the interested administrations» specifies Biondi.
«In any case, I confirm that I have correctly apologized to the Region and Province for the lack of hearing that they had undertaken to hold, albeit remotely. Furthermore, I have kindly and kindly asked both institutions, if they can, to provide a summary of the things they would have said at the hearing, in such a way as to allow me to also include those aspects in the report I am preparing for the last City Council. If necessary, I would like to underline that in this case too I have guaranteed up to now and intend to guarantee up to the end, the maximum attention and impartiality of the Commission. And I ask my councilor friends to distinguish once again the events relating to political controversy from the issues that affect the living flesh of the citizens affected by the floods. As far as I’m concerned, the pre-eminent aspect – it is today and always will be – is the need to provide answers to the citizens who have suffered the damage and are experiencing the worries caused by the event of a year ago, maintaining faith in the commitments undertaken» concludes Biondi.
