CHIAVERANO. On Wednesday 24th, in the late afternoon around 6.30pm, at the Castle of San Giuseppe, a girl fell while walking along a path looking for her dog, along the slopes east of the castle.

Rescue efforts began immediately and fire brigade teams from Ivrea and Castellamonte reached the site. The Drago ei Saf (Alpine river speleo) and the Piedmontese Alpine and speleological rescue intervened to support them. The Carabinieri and an ambulance also arrived in the castle square.
The recovery operations lasted for a few hours, the area where the girl was located was impervious. The young woman should have suffered fractures in the fall but her life does not appear to be in danger. The intervention of the Piedmontese Alpine and Speleological Rescue ended at 9.30 pm. The firefighters had recovered a doctor present in the Blue Cross ambulance and had winched him to the scene of the accident together with their staff. In the meantime, an Alpine Rescue team had arrived on site by land carrying technical and medical equipment with which the woman, who suffered head and lower limb trauma, was stabilized and made safe. Subsequently, the intervention of the air ambulance was requested which, in night flight mode, despite the strong wind in the area, recovered the injured woman and delivered her to the ambulance for hospitalization.
