There is an investigation into the death of Luigi Spera from Battipaglia, who died about a month ago.
The Public Prosecutor’s Office in fact ordered an autopsy on the body of the well-known activist who was therefore exhumed. Three medical examiners were appointed by the judges. Spera’s family members, assisted by the lawyer Carmine Bucciarelli, turned to the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Salerno after their relative’s funeral and asked to start investigations to ascertain the causes of death and the possible responsibilities of the healthcare personnel. The man died at the “Santa Maria della Speranza” hospital in Battipaglia after a cardiac arrest.
The family’s request is for the causes of death to be clarified and above all whether negligence was committed by healthcare personnel. Obviously we will have to wait for the results of the autopsy examination to evaluate the possible involvement of the doctors who treated him. The results will be made official within the next ninety days.
