This was announced in recent weeks and this morning the Trapani Dem deputy, Dario Safina, submitted an urgent question to the Sicilian Regional Assembly to the Ars, addressed to the President of the Region, Renato Schifani and to the Regional Councilor for Infrastructure and Mobility, Alessandro Aricò, concerning the ports of Castellammare del Golfo and Bonagia in the Municipality of Valderice.
“It is necessary – underlines Safina – to find additional funds to complete the structural works at the tourist port of Castellammare del Golfo, which require an investment of at least 15 million euros, to guarantee its full functioning and its strategic commercial and recreational role.
However, as regards the tourist port of Bonagia, in the Municipality of Valderice it is essential to allocate 265,000.00 euros for the updating and adaptation of the definitive general project. Funds which, due to an inconceivable bureaucratic error, were assigned to a department other than the one that requested them and, therefore, are not available in the budget. An urgent solution is needed to ensure that these funds are transferred to the Regional Technical Department.”
Finally, Safina asked if the regional government intends to include the project relating to the port of Valderice/Bonagia in the definitive planning of the Development and Cohesion Funds (FSC), taking into account the update of prices compared to the forecast of expenditure indicated in a previous regional resolution.
“Completing these two works, which have been talked about for decades now – concludes the Hon. Safina – is a fundamental step for the infrastructural and economic development, not only of the province of Trapani, but of all of Western Sicily. I hope that this time the regional government will demonstrate the due sensitivity in addressing the issues in question and will act with due attention and urgency to resolve them once and for all.”
