PESARO – Investigation into adulterated milk, the first results of the analyzes conducted on the samples of the products seized on April 22nd have arrived. In recent days the Carabinieri’s NAS have in fact seized around 90 tonnes of milk and 110 tonnes of dairy products, as well as around 2.5 tonnes of adulterated substances (caustic soda and hydrogen peroxide), for a total value of just under 800 thousand euros. The checks took place at the Fattorie Marchigiane factory (controlled by the Cooperlat group) in Colli al Metauro, at a dairy products warehouse in the Treviso area and at an agricultural company in Valmarecchia.

The investigations, against 9 people and 3 companies, coordinated by the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Pesaro, aim to ascertain the use of adulterating and adulterating substances in the production circuit of large-scale retail dairy products.

The parameters

According to investigative sources, from the results of the first analyzes conducted by the zooprophylactic institute of Perugia on the milk contained in 4 silos and taken during the seizure, there would be some initial findings. That is, the bacterial load would be above normal in all the samples from April 22nd. The parameter used in the tests is a generic indicator of good hygienic conditions on the farm and in particular of milking and the state of conservation of the milk. But this is only a first indication, analyzes will have to provide further answers. Cooperlat-Trevalli recently reiterated that «the investigations currently underway do not concern the products on the market, so much so that no recall has been imposed, or has become necessary. The company reiterates the total authenticity of all products intended for the final consumer, in compliance with current regulations, and the utmost attention to the most up-to-date safety and quality standards. The ongoing investigation only concerned the Colli Al Metauro dairy production site of Fattorie Marchigiane Cons. Coop. Agricultural Society”. In recent days, the date of assignment of the task to the expert who will have to carry out the analyzes on the cell phones seized from the suspects was postponed.
