Larino. Landslide in via San Rocco: political activist Donato Barone calls for urgent intervention in view of San Pardo!

LARINO. In the last few hours we have collected the testimony of the young political activist from Larino, Donato Barone who this time wanted to inform our editorial staff of the state of the area adjacent to the historic fountain dedicated to the patron saint Pardo, where for several months now one landslide of the upper ridge brought soil and vegetation down to the road, where the usual imbecile also dumped waste.

Well, Barone also through our columns asks for urgent intervention by the municipal technical office in order to restore the state of the places and allow the regular carrying out of the now classic blessing of the animals scheduled for next May 24th, the eve of the three-day celebration in honor of San Pardo.

“I have been reporting this state of affairs to the administration for months. As can be seen clearly from the photos on the road, via San Rocco, almost at the height of the fountain, various earthy material has fallen together with the vegetation which has effectively halved the roadway which has also been affected in recent days by other works. In my humble opinion, the area, after the resurfacing of the asphalt, should however be affected by a more extensive recovery project. In fact, if it is true that the priority is represented by the landslide, it is also true that the entire green area deserves to be maintained as best as possible. It is enough to take a walk around to realize that in that area the vegetation has grown enormously, the bad weather or some unfortunate person has torn away all the wooden handrails that served as protection to the small road that leads from Via Gramsci to the fountain. It seems, hearing from residents, that there is also a leak in the sewerage system. And then the lighting is also quite poor and non-existent in several places. The street lamps placed around the fountain may be beautiful, but as done in other Italian fountains, the lighting should be oriented in a different way, perhaps precisely in correspondence with the arches so as to make them stand out. I therefore ask the administration to proceed quickly with the restoration of the area which remains one of the characteristic corners of our Larino, a place of devotion and faith which will once again see the ritual of the blessing of the animals renewed on 24 May”.
