UDINE (ITALPRESS) – “Strategic collaborations must be based not only on institutional aspects but also on economic ones and greater collaboration between Fvg-branded companies and US ones, together with the mutual presence on their respective markets, strengthens the alliance between the EU, Italy and the United States. In this context, Friuli Venezia Giulia is certainly an opportunity to discover, a border region that constitutes a natural logistical platform towards the center of Europe, to enter the EU, Italian and of central and eastern Europe”. It is starting from these points that the governor of Friuli Venezia Giulia Massimiliano Fedriga opened his speech at the economic forum “Opportunities for partnership in the innovative companies of Italy’s Friuli Venezia Giulia” organized by the National Italian American Foundation (Niaf) within the headquarters of Nasdaq, the American stock exchange dedicated to the hi-tech stock market. An event of great importance for the institutional mission of the Region, which was also attended by the councilor for Productive Activities and Tourism Emidio Bini, the Select Fvg Agency and the heads of the regional directorates for International Relations and Productive Activities, as well as representatives of important companies , including Marco Galbiati of Fincantieri Marine Group, Gianfranco Nazzi of Biofarma Group, Dario Roncadin of Roncadin, the president of the Trieste Interport Paolo Privileggio, the president of Modiano Stefano Crechici and the USA and Americas country manager of Intesa San Paolo Pierpaolo Monti, the director of the Alto Adriatico Technological Pole Franco Scolari and the vice-president of the Venice Chamber of Commerce Giulia MassimilianoCiarrocchi.
The governor, after recalling some of the main strengths of the region such as innovation, logistics, shipbuilding and the scientific and biomedical sector as well as the investment in the Green Hydrogen Valley with Slovenia and Croatia, then highlighted that “the Fvg-USA economic collaboration is very significant and the United States is one of the top export markets of our region, which is focusing with conviction on attracting foreign investments”. In the last three years the share of foreign investments in the area has tripled, going from 2 percent of the national total to 6 percent. Considering that our region has 1.2 million inhabitants and represents 2 percent of the national GDP, this is an exceptional result, which testifies to the extraordinary value of our settlement context. Among these, the data that recorded the most important growth was precisely that of the USA. Dialoguing with important exponents of the US production system on the sidelines of the event, the councilor for productive activities had the opportunity to underline how Friuli Venezia Giulia, being a Region with a special statute, can accompany economic development with dedicated tools: “taxation regional is zeroed for new investments; a guarantee fund is available that supports venture capital investments and a financing system has been developed to support research and development. Furthermore, Friuli Venezia Giulia confirms itself as an extremely attractive area for tourists, with important repercussions from an economic and investment point of view”. In the evening, the president, the councilor and the Fvg delegation were guests of the National Italian American Foundation Gala, during which Friuli Venezia Giulia was indicated as “Region of Honor for the year 2024”. On this occasion, the governor confirmed the importance of relationships with associations of Italians abroad, such as Niaf, and with all those entities capable of acting as a platform for investments, creating important synergies. This type of qualified contacts also facilitates the creation of economic relationships and encourages investments and, in a complex international moment like the current one, it is necessary to look at the nations that represent and defend a fundamental value such as freedom, which is at the basis of culture and history of Western democracies.
