Announced in recent days (read HERE), the blast of arctic air broke into our territory yesterday, bringing unusually low temperatures for the season.
During the night, following yesterday afternoon’s storm which brought with it very cold currents, temperatures dropped to almost freezing in many areas of the Province, especially in several valleys. Temperatures below zero are recorded not only in the capital but in many areas of the province.
In the southern Asti area, the minimum reached 0.8°C, while in the control unit Viatosto the temperature dropped, albeit slightly, below 0: -0.5°C. Low of -1.2 ° C in San Damiano, reached at 6.30, the weather station in Castell’Alfero was similar, which recorded -1.8°C, while in Nice the mercury stopped at -0.4°C.
A late cold wave for the season and above all dangerous for advanced flowering, given the season. In addition to the temperatures, there was damage from the bad weather which kept the firefighters busy for a long time with trees falling due to the strong wind. Many interventions were carried out during the night, with damage also in the parks of the Asti area. Fortunately, none had particularly serious consequences. There is a tree uprooted in front of the parish church of the Sacred Heart, in the Corso Alba area.
