Illegal motocross track in the Montemarcello park in Liguria

He ran an illegal motocross circuit in the regional park area of Montemarcello Magra-Vara, seized by the Forestry Carabinieri upon delegation of the judicial authority. This is the president of a two-wheeler association in the province, whose details have not been disclosed, already known to the police for environmental and landscape violations, reported for defacing natural beauty – for the construction of the track should have had the authority’s authorization – and disturbance of animal species. While awaiting further investigations which could reveal a real business, in a province where there are no authorized motocross tracks, it is certain that he has lent part of a lot rented by a company to create real motorbike rallies on several occasions with dozens of participants, events impacting the flora and fauna of a protected area.

The seals were carried out at the request of the Public Prosecutor’s Office in Boettola, in the territory of Sarzana, one of the sixteen municipalities between Val di Vara and Val di Magra, which form the Montemarcello park. In recent months, in fact, several reports had arrived at the Carabinieri operations center, which triggered inspections by the Foresters. During the on-site inspections, the police discovered a real circuit, formed by the continuous passage of cross motorbikes and reported to the Prosecutor’s Office. An administrative fine is also foreseen for the manager of the illegal track, starting from a minimum of 3,100 euros. Also at risk, if identified, are motorcyclists, who risk fines of 400 euros for racing on unauthorized circuits in protected areas.
