Shutter closed for Treccia d’oro, the historic pastry shop in Piazza Garibaldi which has closed shop today. Lightning from the blue for Crema and the Crema area which loses the historic pastry shop and one of the oldest shops in the city.
The pastry shop, known precisely for the sweet la treccia d’oro, brought to Crema by the founder of the pastry shop Vittorio Macalli at the end of the 1950s, after the death of its creator, saw continuity with his son Giampietro who, however, in recent months has made the decision to close the historic pastry shop, apparently due to a lack of adequate staff to meet the needs of its extremely high quality. Now inside the shop it seems that a fishmonger could arrive.
The origin of the Treccia d’Oro dates back to the late 1930s. During the Padua Fair, this delicious recipe was presented and patented by the pastry chef Zironda. The success achieved allowed him to open the Pasticceria Zironda on his own, where Vittorio Maccalli began working as an apprentice. When the owner decided to retire from the business Maccalli took over, contributing to the fame of this dessert. So much to call “Golden Braid his shop in Piazza Garibaldi.
The Lombardy Region has recognized Treccia d’Oro as an artisanal product of Crema and the Crema area, unquestionably becoming a traditional heritage and gaining acclaim even far from the production area.
