Sassari. Sardinia protagonist of “Olio in Cattedra 2023-2024”. The City of Sassari Oil wins third place in the BimbOil category of the educational project created by the National Association Città dell’Olio to promote the culture of oil and the olive-growing landscape in elementary and high schools in which the works had inclusion and accessibility as themes.

In the BimbOil Junior category, starting from a visit to a local museum, the students had to plan a small exhibition to be held inside the school or just to imagine and describe with texts, sounds, photos and drawings. And the Grazia Deledda Comprehensive Institute of Ilbono with classes 2A and 2B and the work “Walking in Ogliastra: among the olive trees and nature with our centenarians” earned second place. “The work – we read in the jury’s motivation – was considered very adherent and responsive to the project theme from start to finish. In fact, the class created a well-structured and set-up exhibition that can be enjoyed there

rtually, that through the visit to the school, managing to enhance the territory of origin (Ogliastra), the olive-growing environment, the centenarian grandparents, but above all the 5 senses”.

In the BimbOIl category, however, where the students had to create a recipe book starting from the desire to discover the different gastronomic traditions, describing the preparations, but also uses, customs and stories related to oil, which change from country to country, it was the 5 D class of the “Li Punti” Comprehensive Institute that obtained third place on the most coveted podium with the essay entitled “Osteria Principe EVO”. “The final project – writes the jury

in the motivation – it turns out to be a meeting between different cultures and dishes that enrich the students by providing a real culinary exchange, giving rise to a restaurant menu whose main product is Evo Oil.

“Olio in Cattedra is an event much loved by schools which grows every year in terms of participation – declared Michele Sonnessa President of the Città dell’Olio – to reward the enthusiasm that we have always recorded around this project, in agreement with UNAPROL and in compliance with the protocol we have signed, we wanted to offer a very valuable and fun training opportunity: the free mini-course which will allow even the littlest ones to learn about the tasting techniques of EVO oil and learn to recognize the various types of oil present in the area by studying their characteristics with direct tasting experience. In this way we educate those who will be the ambassadors of our excellence to conscious consumption.”

“I would like to congratulate the students and teachers for the enthusiasm and commitment they have shown – said Maura Boi, Regional Coordinator of the Sardinian Oil Cities – it is the youngest who teach us adults to welcome other cultures and even other culinary traditions. We too must continue to do our part, promoting our excellence and our olive-growing landscape in the best possible way, through training initiatives like this, which raise the awareness among very young people of being custodians of a heritage of inestimable value”.
