Telepass increases the monthly fee, here are the prices

The fee increase is expected from 1 July 2024. Customers already registered with the service will have the right to renounce their subscription free of charge

The monthly Telepass fee will increase starting from 1 July 2024. The offer Basic will cost 3.90 euros per month, more than double the current 1.83 euros, and will allow the Telepass device to be associated with two electronic toll plates and 4 other services. The proposal Plushowever, allows access to 25 services for the same price, thanks to an offer valid until December 2025. The offer completes the package Pay per Usewhich it predicts the possibility of paying one euro per day only for the days of actual use of the Telepass. To take advantage of the Pay per UseHowever, you must also spend 10 euros to activate the Telepass, an operation which is instead included in the other two subscription options. Having decided on the fee increases unilaterally, Telepass customers already registered with the service will have the right to renounce their subscription free of charge.

the reason for the increases

The increase in the Telepass fee is the result of the increase in costs that the company has had to face recently and the increased competition present in the sector. Telepass is no longer linked to the concessionaire Autostrade per l’Italia, after the latter was sold by Mundys (formerly Atlantia) and therefore can no longer benefit from the transfer of savings due to the lower cost of managing the toll booths. Which translates into higher costs for the company. Furthermore, the market has been enriched with competitorsincluding Unipolmove and Mooney, a factor that led Telepass to review its strategies.

the goal is to grow in urban contexts

Invest 500 million euros in 5 years to grow the presence of Telepass services in 50 Italian cities. This is the group’s strategy, presented by CEO Luca Laciani. Telepass’s goal is to go from 7 to 10 million customers and to approach one billion in turnover (that of 2023 was 380 million, with a +20% on 2022). To achieve these results, the group focuses onincrease and improve its urban mobility services, already present today in various Italian cities. In Milan, for example, it is possible to use the Telepass to automatically pay the access ticket to the Ztl Area C.
