AURONZO (BELLUNO) – The Court of Belluno has decided to once again temporarily entrust the management of theHotel Auronzo, the only one in the valley with four stars. The successful tenderer will be the winner of the specific notice being published and there are already proposers on the judge’s table. In the meantime, after the previous ones failed, there will be a new tender for the sale of the accommodation facility. So the problem of accommodation for the 17th consecutive year of Lazio football team for the 2024-2025 pre-season summer training camp on the shores of Lake Santa Caterina has been resolved? Not even by dream: in recent days an official letter of unilateral withdrawal of the contract by the Municipality was delivered to the table of the president of Media Sport Event, Gianni Lacchè, who has always taken care of the organization of the Lazio stay in Auronzo. of its mayor Darius Vecellio Galen.

THE CAUSE

Among the reasons given there would also be that on 10 April, the deadline requested by the Auronzano Municipality to indicate, as in reality was done by Media Sport Event, the chosen accommodation facility, the Hotel Auronzo precisely, was not available. With its doors closed it was waiting for the manager to be appointed. The Municipality would write that, despite generic assurances, Media Sport Event would not be able, as of 10 April 2024, to guarantee the existence and actual availability of a suitable and usable accommodation facility for the mandate. Mandate, which according to Gianni Lacchè, does not contain this clause, i.e. the obligation to communicate the host hotel. For him it’s a struggle to avoid signing the Lazio retreat in Auronzo di Cadore because, in his opinion, Media Sport Event has honored all of his commitments, if not more. As for the organizational reasons cited such as the maintenance of the sports field and communications with public institutions, these have always been carried out between May and June, while the Auronzo hotel will begin to be operational from 15 May, the date of designation of the manager by the court. In the remote back and forth, the mayor, Dario Vecellio Galeno, neither confirms nor denies the termination of the contract, only adding impatiently: «I don’t want to talk anymore about Lazio’s withdrawal. It’s time to end it.”

Gianni Lacchè reiterates his challenge in a proposal for a public discussion with the Auronzana civic administration and the population. «If the mayor doesn’t do it – declares Gianni Lacchè – I am willing to do it myself to inform the citizens of how the facts really stand, supported by a lot of documentation. Not only that, but to explain what the consequences could be if Lazio’s retreat to Auronzo di Cadore doesn’t go through, despite me having jumped through hoops. And to say that initially the mayor had encouraged me to conduct negotiations with the sports club of president Claudio Lotito. Aside from the damage to the valley’s economy, the Municipality’s unilateral renunciation will trigger a series of very costly, if not million-dollar, legal disputes. The Lazio sports club will sue Media Sport Event for compensation, and this will subsequently do so against the Municipality of Auronzo di Cadore, demanding nothing more than the agreed upon 300 thousand euros per year. I believe that President Lotito will call the mayor, who I hope will return to reconsider the position held up to now by the Municipality”. In short, almost everyone, especially hoteliers and tour operators, hopes that this torment, which began last autumn, will end with the classic tarallucci and wine.
