ROUEN Bitter debut for Elisabetta Cocciaretto in the Wta 250 tournament in Rouen, France. The twenty-three-year-old tennis player from Fermo, number 55 in the world ranking, was beaten in three sets by the French Caroline Garcia, number 23 in the world and number two on the scoreboard, at the end of a match that lasted almost two hours in a stadium entirely in favor of the Frenchwoman. Elisabetta is bitter because in the third and decisive set she found herself leading by 5 games to 3, two balls away from success but then had to succumb, while continuing to fight on the return of Garcia who won the last four consecutive games.

The end
1-6 6-3 7-5 the final score for the Frenchwoman who really had to sweat her sweats to be able to impose herself on a Cocciaretto who from the middle of the second set had raised the level of the game by scoring excellent shots and giving her the impression of being able to beat an opponent to whom she had lost in the three previous matches. The first set was uneventful: 6-1 in just 27′ for Garcia. The second set saw the player from the Marche play with courage and take the lead up to 4 to 2, breaking her opponent, after having defended two break points in the previous game. Then she went ahead 5 to 3 by playing judiciously and carefully but at the best moment she was betrayed by her serve (three double faults in the last two rounds of service) and was unable to hold on to the advantage. On the other hand, Garcia took advantage of the Marche girl’s difficult moment by making a comeback that at a certain point seemed very difficult, ending the match with the first match ball in favor.
