On April 14, 2024, a video was published on Facebook showing a strong explosion that occurred at night in a residential area. The video is accompanied by a comment, written by the author of the post, stating that it would be “Iranian ballistic missiles” that “hit targets in Israel”.
The reference is to Iran’s attack against Israel which took place on 13 April 2024 with the launch of drones and missiles. The Israeli military said it intercepted 99 percent of Iranian drones and missiles fired at Israeli territory. The Iranian attack occurred just under two weeks after the April 1, 2024 attack blamed on the Israeli military on the Iranian embassy in Damascus, Syria, in which 11 people, including seven Iranian Revolutionary Guardsmen, were killed . Iran had announced that it wanted to avenge this raid.
This is misleading content, which conveys false news.
The video is real, but has no connection to the Iranian attack on Israel on April 13, 2024. The footage was https://twitter.com/kann_news/status/1392607952121602057 on X on May 13, 2021 from the Israeli news site Kan news. In the caption accompanying the images, we read that the scene shows a Hamas rocket hitting a house in the city of Rishon LeZion, located south of Tel Aviv, Israel.
