At the Venice Biennale, the Israeli Pavilion will remain closed until the release of the hostages held by Hamas since 7 October. Artists and curators announced it.
It will remain closed until release of hostages held by Hamas since 7 October The Israel Pavilion at the Venice Biennale. The artists and curators made this known with a sign hanging this morning on the doors of the pavilion, located in the Giardini della Biennale. “The artists and curators of the Israeli pavilion will open the exhibition when an agreement is reached for the ceasefire and the release of the hostages”: this is what the sign says.
“Art can wait,” said Mira Lapidot and Tamara Margalit, curators of the pavilion together with Ruth Patir. “Women, children and people who experience hell, however, cannot.” For the Israeli delegation it is a choice of solidarity with the victims of Hamas kidnappings, with their families and with the Israeli community.
