Genoa. After the success of last year’s edition, the Genoa Trailto discover or rediscover by running creuze and paths that cross and overlook the city.

Different ones novelty this year starting from the race, completely free and dedicated to under 18s. A novelty in perfect Sisport style, a historic company trail running (as well as sport climbing), which for years has also been working to make younger people discover the beauty of running in nature .

There are therefore three races that will start on Sunday April 21st from Piazza Matteottiwhich this year starting from the afternoon of Saturday 20th will be transformed into a real ‘village’, a place to celebrate sport.

Virtually unchanged compared to last year, i tracks of the 46 km and the 17 km. The 46 km, dedicated to the most trained athletes or in any case to those who feel like tackling a long mountain run with a significant difference in altitude (2700 d+), has a long and challenging route which leads to Mount Alpesisa (above Creto), to the nearby Mount Lago and then to Mount Alpe. Then after various ups and downs that reach the historic aqueduct (you will also pass through the siphon bridge over the Geirato, less known than that of Staglieno but equally fascinating) you will climb all the peaks of the western forts (Diamante, Minore, Maggiore, Puin and Sperone) to return towards Piazza Matteotti.

The 17th km instead it is a race for everyone or almost everyone: the difference in altitude is 800 d+ and the route is a great classic for the Genoese who walk up from the center to the forts: starting from Piazza Matteotti, crossing the historic centre, then going up towards Castelletto and from there taking the most direct route along the entire path below the walls. Then from the Peralto area you go up to the Baracche and arrive at Fort Maggiore passing through the beautiful butterfly path.

The news, as we said, is the Genoa Young Trail, the distance (14km) dedicated to young people between 12 and 18 years old which is completely free and reaches Fort Puin and then returns to the city.

The 46km will start at 8am while the two shorter races will start at 8.45am. Registration for the ‘queen’ race costs 55 euros, 20 for the 17 km. Registrations can be made through the site genovatrail.com by accessing the Wedosport system until Thursday 18 April, but most likely for the most undecided there will also be the possibility to register directly at the village in Piazza Matteotti on Saturday afternoon.

THE details of the routes, the regulations, as well as logistical information on parking, reception, showers etc. are always on the race website.

This year the Genoa trail was included by the Municipality of Genoa among the sporting events of Genoa 2024, capital of Sport. The press conference to present the event will be held on Wednesday at 2pm in the reception hall of Palazzo Tursi.
