Close to the eAbruzzo regional lessons and in view of the imminent competition for the renewal of the City Council and for the election of the new Mayor of Pineto, the subscribed – former councillors, former managers of theDemocratic Party, voters and supporters of the same, representatives of civil society and the world of culture – believe it is their duty to intervene in the ongoing debate on the choice of the candidate for mayor.
This consideration arises from awareness of the particular situationremarkably delicate that we are experiencing, even at a local level, from the point of view of participation in political life and, therefore, of democratic city life.
Electoral competitions, in fact, remain one of the few moments of democratic confrontation; Furthermore, local ones represent a fundamental event for defining medium and long-term programs and choices for the development of our cities, whether small or large.
Therefore, relegate these choices to a very small circle of members of the ppolitical arts it seems rather undemocratic to us as well as a symptom of serious closureto current political forces.
AND’ our intention, therefore to open a debate with the entire citizenry, to try to clarify and define the main lines along which the development of Pineto should run, starting from those which are the essential points for urban development and territorial planning , also fundamental for prefiguring its tourism development, while respecting its environmental vocation.
We therefore turn to the leaders of the Democratic Party and all the political forcesand the centre-left, so that make the effort to leave their premises to compare with the entire citizenry through public meetings on the territory that they bring back to discuss together, even before dand the names of possible Mayors, ideas and programs.
