Cooperation objective for the development of a Lombard library network: this is the theme of the meeting organized by the Province of Brescia. Proposal accepted and full support of the province of Como.

Towards a Lombard library network

Towards a Lombard library network for a broad cooperation area of library services. This is the theme of the meeting, organized by the Province of Brescia, which brought together for the first time around a table the administrators of the nine Lombard library networks that are partners of the Bresciana Library Network (RBB): Bergamo, Como, Cremona, CSBNO (area Milanese), CUBI (Milan and Brianza area), Mantua, Lodi, Sondrio.

“The objective of the meeting – he stated Roberta Sisti, delegate councilor of the Province and president of the RBB – is to evolve the area of technical cooperation, created around the province of Brescia, into an area of strategic and political cooperation, which guarantees common long-term planning, through a planning tool which gives life to a Lombard library network, which constitutes a collective representation to communicate in the most effective way with regional and national institutional interlocutors (Lombardy Region, Anci, Upl, Ministry, etc.). The Provinces can play a key role in supporting libraries and promoting collaboration between institutions”.

Proposal accepted unanimously

The proposal was unanimously accepted by the participating administrators, sharing that the most advanced library services need a political vision that goes beyond the single territoriality.

Representing the province of Como, the meeting was attended by the vice president Giovanni Alberti and the manager of the Library Service:

“The province of Como fully supports the initiative aimed at creating a Lombard library network as it recognizes the importance of collaboration and sharing of resources in the cultural and educational fields. A regional library network would offer numerous advantages, including access to a wider range of materials and services for citizens, the sharing of best practices and resources between different libraries, and the possibility of developing broader and more engaging cultural programs and initiatives. Furthermore, a regional network would allow to broaden the reach and impact of library activities, promoting the diffusion of knowledge and culture throughout the Lombardy region. The province of Como firmly believes that by joining forces with other provinces in the region, a richer and more stimulating cultural environment can be created for all citizens , thus contributing to the progress and well-being of the Lombard community as a whole”.
