A malfunction in the air filtration system of acompany on the Interporto site that treats waste was identified late at night by the Fire Brigade as the cause of the stench which has pervaded the center of Beinasco since yesterday evening and continues this morning, reaching as far as Borgaretto.
Numerous and widespread reports of a strong smell of gas in the air they alarmed the administration, the local police, the civil protection and the firefighters. The control interventions to verify possible leaks made it possible, only after several hours of work with specific equipment, to trace the source of the problem: a fault in the odor control mechanisms of a company specialized in waste recovery.
From the first investigations, which also involved the Arpa technicians, the emissions, although unpleasant, do not seem to cause particular concern. The system that highlighted the anomaly was therefore temporarily interrupted. “In any case, it will be the responsibility of the municipal administration to promptly request all the necessary insights from the control bodies” declared the mayor of Beinasco, Daniel Cannatiwho followed the story firsthand, updating the population.
