Almost a year later, the devastating effects of the flood in Romagna are unfortunately still a reality that dramatically affects many activities and people. Italian Iyengar yoga does not forget and thanks to Emilia Pagani, of the Iyengar Yoga Center Ravenna, a seminar was organized held by Lois Steinberg, a world-famous American teacher who accepted the invitation. The proceeds of the attended seminar last weekend were entirely donated to two emergencies in the Romagna area. The beneficiaries are the Il Girasole nursery school in Faenza and the Il Poggiolo agricultural company in the Zattaglia area, both heavily affected by the May 2023 flood.

From Friday 15th to Sunday 17th March, over 130 practitioners from all over Italy, but also from South Korea, the United States, Canada, Argentina, Spain, England, France, Poland and Germany, met to participate in the seminar held by Lois Steinberg , which has been linked to Emilia Romagna and Ravenna in particular for many years. The moment in which the representatives of the two realities spoke about their situation and the terrible difficulties they have had to face in recent months was very touching. The Il Girasole school was completely destroyed and will have to be totally rebuilt, while the Il Poggiolo company which deals with agriculture and horse riding is still on its knees: the paths and orchards destroyed, the land previously cultivated now collapsed, the water supply compromise.

“During those terrible days – explained Emilia Pagani – in our homes in Ravenna we feared with anguish that the water would reach the city. But it was thanks to the sacrifice of the inhabitants of the area and the surrounding countryside that the city was saved. I immediately thought that I should do something to help those who had lost so much. What we have organized in recent days is a small thing compared to what our Region needs, but it meant a lot to our community as we hope that our help can concretely lend a hand to start again”.
