IT IS EXPENSIVE – The Volkswagen announces the new ones Golf R And Golf Variant R, versions that are positioned at the top of the range. Pre-sales in Germany will begin on July 3, with a price list starting from 53,795 euros for the compact version and 55,065 euros for the station wagon (Golf R Variant). The edition is also available Black Edition (in the photo below), which is characterized by a completely black livery and costs 58,440 euros.
THE POWER IS ABUNDANT – The Volkswagen Golf Rwhich is based on the restyled version of the eighth generation of the German compact car, is characterized by a specific tuning of the chassis and by the 2-litre 4-cylinder turbo petrol engine which in this new version delivers 333 HP14 HP more than previous models, with a pair of 420 Nm. The top speed of 250 km/h can be increased by a further 20 km/h to 270 km/h with the optional R-Performance package. The two versions of the Golf R thus become the fastest Volkswagen production models in the world.
IT HAS DCC SUSPENSIONS – The 7-speed DSG gearbox, and the four-wheel drive 4MOTION with R-Performance Torque Vectoring (distributes the drive power individually to the rear wheels), should ensure track-ready qualities. The adaptive chassis control should also contribute to making driving more dynamic (DCC), standard on vehicles sold in Germany. It’s a system of electronically controlled shock absorbers which continuously reacts to the road surface and the driving situation, taking into account various elements including steering, braking and acceleration manoeuvres. The lateral dynamic components of the DCC driving system are coordinated and further optimized by the Vehicle Dynamics Manager, which is a real “brain”.
GRIT TO SELL – Aesthetically the Volkswagen Golf R it differs from the larger air intakes in the bumper and the new 19-inch “Warmenau” forged wheels, available as an option. These have a clean design and a weight of 8kg per rim, also ensuring efficient brake cooling. It makes it even meaner and better performing R-Performance packageoptional, which, in addition to the higher maximum speed, offers two additional modes for motorsport enthusiasts who drive on the track: Drift And Special. Special mode has been specifically adapted to the conditions of the Nürburgring Nordschleife. Additional downforce is provided by a larger roof spoiler through which the airflow is channeled. The R-Performance package also includes the GPS lap timer and G-meter, both displayed in the Digital Cockpit Pro.
RICH EQUIPMENT – The rich standard equipment of the Volkswagen Golf R includes, among other things, the Digital Cockpit Pro which features a specific “Sport Skin”, i.e. graphic customization with a round central rev counter and horizontal display of the revs. The “R style” also dominates the interior, with the driver and passenger sitting on sports seats with integrated headrests. Optional interiors in nappa leather black with elements in carbon look with blue applications in the side area and an R logo in the seat back.
