Volkswagen removes the veils from brand new Golf R and reveals in all its beauty, and above all power, the new version of the iconic model now in its eighth generation. In a 2024 full of new features, with significant updates on board the compact car, a new jewel arrives from Wolfsburg that will be available on the market after the summer. A model which, at first glance, already gives good sensations from the promises made, a car capable of getting noticed not only for its new style and its renewed roar, but also and above all for those 13 more horses that they bring Golf R to have 333 with one top speed of 270 km/h instead of the “classic” 250s. In short, a Volkswagen never seen before and, in fact, the fastest in the world.
Golf R, design and power
The company shows everyone its most beautiful Golf, both in design and power, because the compact unveiled is the fastest VW production one there is. With 270 km/h reached thanks to the 333 horsepower and the torque of 420 Nm, in fact, Golf R is ready to surprise everyone.
A car that immediately stands out, as mentioned, for its new style. The front, in fact, has been modified with a renewed cut of the headlights, as well as the grille and bumpers as well as the daytime LEDs that change shape and size. Without forgetting the illuminated logo that gives an extra sense of elegance.
The models presented by Volkswagen, the hatchback and the wagon, then have a 2.0 turbo engine, perfectly exploitable thanks to the all-wheel drive, but are also characterized by the presence of the adaptive chassis control DCC3, as well as the adoption of improved interiors and a new infotainment system as standard. The latter, in particular, has a larger display as an option (32.8 cm diagonal) while the enhanced Digital Cockpit Pro (standard) has a diagonal of 26 cm. Operation has also been improved thanks to the new graphics and the new menu structure for the touch display.
There is also control of the illuminated touch sliders for the automatic climate control and volume control. But what’s new is the IDA6 voice assistant, which accesses the ChatGPT artificial intelligence-based software.
Coming in the summer
The interior of the Golf R models has been developed with improved ergonomics for the driver and passenger. They are finished exclusively in R style with sports seats equipped with integrated headrests. The optional R-Performance package is also available which allows a maximum speed of 270 km/h instead of the 250 of the standard models and which includes a larger roof spoiler and a timing and acceleration measurement system for these models.
However, we will have to wait a few months for the Golf R to arrive on the roads. In Germany, in fact, the company has announced the start of pre-sales starting from next July 3rd. The Golf R will have a price list starting from 53,795 eurosalongside the wagon, traditionally called Variant, starting from 55,065 euros and an exclusive version of the Golf R hatchback which – as the name Black Edition underlines – is completely black, starting from 58,440 euros.
