Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree updates with version 1.12.2 and becomes easier

FormSoftware has published Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree update 1.12.2 which basically does two things: simplifies the DLC slightly by modifying some elements of the progression and tries to improve the performance of the PC version, the most penalized from this point of view, by solving a bug related to ray tracing.

In short, there have been some changes to the game balance and work has begun on bugs. Unfortunately there is no good news for Steam Deck owners, since there is no mention of the bug that makes Shadow of the Erdtree unplayable if you keep the console idle for more than five minutes. However, it has already been promised that future patches will fix more bugs and further change some balances, so we must remain hopeful.

Balancing the blessings of the shadow realm
The progression of attack and defense increases received from Shadow Realm Blessings has been revised.

  • The first half of the max buff will now provide a larger increase in attack and defense, while the second half of the buff will have a more gradual progression.
  • The final level of blessings will still provide a slight increase in attack and defense over the previous version.

The calibration update can be applied simply by logging into a multiplayer server.
Check the version in the lower right corner of the main menu. If it is not “1.12.2”, select LOGIN and download the latest updates before playing.

Graphics settings (PC version only)
We encountered a bug where ray tracing settings were automatically enabled if you loaded save data from previous versions of the game.
If your frame rate is unstable, check the “Ray Tracing Quality” settings in SYSTEM > Graphics Settings > from the main menu or game menu. If it is accidentally set to “ON”, turn it off to prevent ray tracing from automatically turning on.
