A new Japanese mathematical puzzle is becoming popular on the web, testing the intelligence of millions of users. The seemingly simple question “What is 7 + 6?” has an answer that is not the predictable 13. According to the creator, whoever manages to solve this puzzle should have an IQ of at least 150.

The series of operations to be analyzed is the following:

6 + 4 = 210
9 + 2 = 711
8 + 5 = 313
5 + 2 = 37
7 + 6 = ???

At first glance, these calculations seem absurd and devoid of mathematical logic. However, there is a hidden method that transforms every sum into an unexpected result. To understand this logic, you have to look carefully at the numbers and think outside the box.

In each operation, the solution is obtained by combining the added numbers in a particular way. For example, in the first calculation 6 + 4 = 210, the result is obtained putting together as the first number the subtraction between the two numbers and – as the second – the result of the addition: 6 – 4 + (6 + 4 = 10) = 210.

Applying the same principle to other calculations:

9 + 2 = 711 -> 9 – 2 + (9 + 2 = 11) = 711
8 + 5 = 313 -> 8 – 5 (8 + 5 = 13) = 313
5 + 2 = 37 -> 5 – 2 (5 + 2 = 7) = 37

Now we can apply this logic to the last calculation:

7 + 6 = ??? -> 7 – 6 (7 + 6 = 13) = 113.

This puzzle not only challenges mathematical conventions, but also stimulates creativity and lateral thinking. More puzzles? This gets it wrong 50% of the time, while 95% of people fail.
