On the slopes of Pikes Peak, Kimera has unveiled the K39his latest creation, ahyper restomod which pays homage to the glorious Lancia Beta Montecarlo Turbo Group 5. Confining it to a classic restomod is, however, too little, as it is a racing car designed to obtain maximum performance.

Both the chassis and the bodywork are made of carbon, the aerodynamics are extreme and the Martini Racing livery pays tribute to the examples of the Seventies. “Every element of the K39 was designed to excel – the House says in a note -. The carbon fiber bodywork and advanced aerodynamics are the result of meticulous attention to detail, making the car a true work of art designed by the wind.”.

Bad already in appearance

Equipped with aggressive and sinuous shapes, features elements recalling the past, such as the “covered” alloy wheels in 1980s style. Having said that, we shouldn’t even expect faithful emulation, otherwise it would disappoint in the final test. Make room, therefore, for modern details designed to allow the Kimera K39 to command respect.

Under the bonnet pulsates a 2,150 cc inline four-cylinder, with turbo and supercharger. Silence remains regarding the power developed: company spokespersons prefer to keep their mouths sealed. However, since the EVO38, from which the K39 derives, delivers 600 HP, we can expect exciting performance. The only information released concerns the discharges, handled by the partner Capristo.

In addition to use in competitions, the newly unveiled vehicle can be configured for road use. A unique opportunity to own a piece of history on four wheels, revisited in a contemporary key. Regarding the competitive debut, everything is known: Pikes Peak 2025. In one of the most fascinating events in the entire motorsport, the drivers will test the limits along a challenging and iconic track.

The glories of the Lancia Beta Montecarlo Turbo Group 5

This confirms Kimera’s passion for long-standing Lancias. Although the relaunch only took place a few years ago, thanks to the resources shared by Stellantis, the Turin brand boasts an excellent history in the racing sector. The World Rally Championships played and won against excellent rivals gave it an honorable image, and in recent weeks the CEO in charge, Luca Napolitano, confirmed the return to racing. Specifically, he will compete in Group 4 of the rally with the Lancia Ypsilon HF.

Group 5 included Lancia Beta Montecarlo Turbo from 1978. It was equipped with a 1.4-litre turbo four-cylinder, developed specifically in compliance with the regulations in force at the time. It released around 480 HP at first, then increased to around 500 with the advanced 1.8-litre unit. The technical qualities of the vehicle earned it important results, including 4 victories in the World Championship for Makes between 1980 and 1981.

Furthermore, he won two places in the 1980 Giro d’Italia. Riding the wave of nostalgia, the Kimera K39 was created in a limited edition. “A small number of passionate collectors will be able to purchase and drive an iconic automobile like this – explains the Piedmontese company – You will know soon…”. Let’s stay tuned, also waiting to know how many will be made and the price: the EVO38 has been offered at around 18,000 euros.
