Gemini AI for Android and iOS has arrived in Italy

Italians who love technology are fans of Google they now have a new, very interesting toy to play around with: the official app has arrived in Italy Gemini, the chatbot launched by Big G to respond to the success of ChatGPT. Gemini has been available in the USA for several months and is now also available in several European countries, including Italy.

The new app integrates with Google Assistant and, to a large extent, replaces it. For those who use Google’s digital assistant a lot on AndroidTherefore, Gemini might be a bit annoying at first because its operation is not 100% identical to that of the old assistant.

On iOShowever, Gemini is essentially aseparate app which must be activated manually, launching it from the iPhone home.

What Gemini can do

Gemini is, first and foremost, a multimodal chatbot. So we can interact with Gemini writing, speaking or inserting images (or photographing objects).

So just like we do with other chatbots, we can ask Gemini to write a text, to give us information on a topic, to create a to-do list and much more. We can also feed it a photo of an object and let us tell you what it’s for.

At the moment, however, Gemini does not yet have the capacity to create images with generative artificial intelligence: they had it at the beginning, then Google had to suspend it due to the controversy caused by heavy “prejudices” shown by its AI.

Gemini, in practice, in order to be “politically correct”, he drew impossible things like black Nazi soldiers, or even female popes and of Indian ethnicity. All this led Google to put this feature on a (long) pause.

In addition, Gemini inherits some functions already present in Google Assistantsuch as those to turn smart devices on and off, or to set alarms and timers, or to launch the Google Maps satellite navigator.

Precisely by virtue of this integration, among other things, on Android smartphones Gemini is activated every time the user says “Hey Google“.

How to install Gemini

The new Gemini app in Italian is available on Play Store of Google and onApp Store from Apple and, consequently, it is installed exactly like any other app for Android or iPhone.

On AndroidAt the moment, it is an optional app: Gemini does not yet replace Assistant in new phones, anyone who wants to use it must install it manually.

On iPhone same thing, but clearly there is no integration possible with Siri.
