Among the protagonists of Villa d’Este Elegance Competitioncurrently taking place on Lake Como until May 26th, there is also the new one Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale, one of the symbols of the Italian House range. The custom-built model reinterprets the stylistic features of the 1967 model which, in turn, drew inspiration from the Tipo 33, a true mono icon of motorsport in the 1960s. Participation in the Competition, which every year features many historic cars from the world of four wheels, represents almost an obligatory passage for the model, which aims to enter the history of Alfa Romeo as one of the most exclusive and appreciated productions by collectors.
An Italian icon
The Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este, whose first edition dates back to 1929, is currently being held in the gardens of the Grand Hotel Villa d’Este and Villa Erba in Cernobbio. Like every year, dozens of cars are present in the competition, with various categories and a team of experts who will decide the winners. Among the various categories of the review there is also the Design Concept Award which also sees the new one among the protagonists Alfa Romeo 33 Stradalea model that the Italian company considers its “manifesto”, both in terms of style and driving experience.
The custom-built car was built in just a few days 33 specimens and it’s one two-seat coupé which combines a series of homages to tradition as well as a look at the future of the brand. The participation of the Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale in the new edition of the Concorso di Eleganza follows last year’s event, when Alfa Romeo anticipated the arrival of its new gem, which would be presented a few months later, bringing the legendary 33 Stradale from 1967. In any case, a new one has already arrived for the new Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale first recognition for its design.
33 examples for a supercar
There New Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale was presented in August 2023, after months and months of rumors and indiscretions, during an event held at the Alfa Romeo Museum in Arese. It is a model that kicks off the new era of the Italian brand which, remaining tied to tradition, focuses on innovation and, naturally, sportiness. Under the hood, the supercar, which as mentioned was made in 33 examples, is equipped with an engine 620 HP twin-turbo V6.
There is also one electric variantwith engine from 750 CV, which represents an absolute first for AlfaRomeo in the world of zero-emission series cars, destined to become the future of the company over the next few years, starting with the electric variant of the new Alfa Romeo Junior. The project was strongly supported by Hean-Philippe Learnato, CEO of Alfa Romeo and manager who was entrusted with the very delicate task (failed several times in the past when the brand was part of FCA) of relaunching the Italian company.
The 33 Stradale was born from another gem of Italian production, the Maserati MC20 and, in its petrol version, it features the Nettuno engine. The performance is top, with one 0-100km/h completed in less than 3 seconds and a maximum speed of 333 km/h.
