According to what was accidentally revealed by a programmer of Firespriteone of the PlayStation Studios teams, the horror game for PS5 that we know is in development has survived Sony’s recent project cancellations and will aim for the 4K and 60 FPS.

A Reddit user spotted the portfolio of programmer William Webster, who described his work on the project. We did not have the opportunity to access the page, as Webster subsequently blocked the section of the site in question, but the PlayStation LifeStyle magazine confirms having seen it.

Webster, who has been working for Firesprite for several years according to his LinkedIn profile, confirmed that he has worked for more than two years on a “narrative horror game”.

One of his main goals was to ensure that the game worked at 60 FPS at 4K resolution. “I found working on this title a very rewarding experience,” Webster wrote. She separately confirmed that this mysterious game was developed with Unreal Engine 5.

Firesprite, information about the studio and its games

The Firesprite offices are very nice

We remember that Firesprite is one of the developers affected by the recent PlayStation layoffs, which apparently also led to the cancellation of the Twisted Metal live service game.

It `s important to note that Sony never officially announced the Firesprite horror game, but in 2022 some job offers leaked its existence. After the cancellation of some projects and layoffs, it was feared that this project too had been put aside.

Some rumors claimed that this horror game was Until Dawn 2, but we don’t have enough evidence to say this for sure. In the meantime, audiences can await the arrival of the Until Dawn remake.
