After having discussed a new feature of WhatsApp that has infuriated many users, let’s return to the instant messaging application. Indeed, the appearance of a dreaded notification remember that another change is now imminent.
The more attentive among you may already be aware of the issue: on the other hand, the announcement of the farewell to WhatsApp’s unlimited backup on Google Drive arrived already at the end of 2023/beginning of 2024. However, the expected “deadline”, that is to say mid 2024is now getting closer in an important way.
This is how users of the official WhatsApp application for Android began to see the appearance, by going to the latter’s Settings (and first selecting the “Chats” box and then the “Chat backup” box), the notification relating to novelty.
The latter reads: “Over the next few months, we’ll start using your Google storage for your backups“. It is then in the relatives WhatsApp official FAQ that further information is provided: “This modification […] will be slowly implemented for all WhatsApp Android users in the first half of 2024“.
“We will notify you of this change 30 days before it occurs with a banner in Settings > Chats > WhatsApp chat backup“. In short, it seems that the moment has essentially arrived.
For increase storage space of the account, users will eventually be able to opt for a Google One paid plan.
